:- Calendar At-A-Glance
The Appsperts today announce their new iOS app called Calendar At-A-Glance. The main idea behind the app is to allow an intuitive, easy to comprehend view of your daily and monthly events and tasks without requiring any interaction from the user. It features the standard calendar-manipulation operations in addition to some new, powerful ones. “It’s pretty easy”, says Dennis Kovalyov, Founder & CEO of The Appsperts, “From the first moment you begin using the app, your schedule is elegantly laid before you. No scrolling, no tapping. You see how many events you have per day, what days are more free than others, what time of day is taken, and more – in a clock-like, mini pie-chart way. It’s like taking the calendar concept and the clock concept and blending them together”. But there’s more to the app than just intuitive views. Another powerful feature is the ability to move, delete and copy multiple events between two dates. The selection of the dates is done in a way similar to the default Calendar app. The selection of the events to move/copy/delete is easier than ever, using minimum number of taps. |

:- iPad 2 will be released in April next year
The next model of the iPad will hit the market in April next year, according to research firm Gleacher & Co. According to Brian Marshall, Apple will put a new model of tablet once a year. April is an appropriate time for the iPad 2. Moreover, Apple will release a CDMA version of the iPhone in March, so the two new seasonal schedule will balance the company, says Marshall, quoted computerworld.com. So far, Apple usually update smartphone iPhone in summer. The latter two models of the device came out in June and July. A number of Asian sources already reported that Apple plans to release a new iPhone in March next year. The model will work in CDMA networks, as is the operator Verizon. Thus the exclusive partner of Apple – AT&T uses a common technology GSM. The Internet is already an ongoing rumors and conjecture how it will look new iPad. Tablet is expected to become thinner and offer a higher resolution. According to Marshall, however, iPad 2 will be almost the same as the first model, with one exception – there will be two cameras to enable users to enjoy video calling application for FaceTime. Do not expect more memory in iPad 2, warns Brian Marshall. According to him, Apple will maintain the current configurations with 16, 32 and 64 GB of memory and prices will range from 499 to 829 dollars. By the end of September, Apple had sold 7.5 million units iPad. Marshall predicts that by year-end company in Cupertino will have placed 6,000,000 tablet so that the total number of units sold will reach 13.5 million |

:- Capcom Arcade Games on the iPhone Go Freemium
“Wow. That’s a lot of awesome gameplay in one app. I bet that’s expensive.” That’s what I thought too when I first heard that Capcom was releasing an app with bundled games. The interesting thing is that Capcom Arcade is not an expensive app at all, in fact, it’s free…
Capcom’s app takes a very intriguing approach to monetization. It uses the “freemium” model of distribution. Urbandictionary defines “freemium” as, “A game or program that is available for free but offers extra premium features for money.” Examples of this model can be seen in very successful companies like Ngmoco and Zynga. In-app purchases have been proven to be very profitable, especially in social games like We Rule and FarmVille.
Unfortunately, not many arcade-style games have utilized the freemium model. Capcom Arcade technically offers gameplay for free, but also uses the credit system of the physical arcades of old. You are given credits for three free games a day, but if you want to play more games, you have to buy more credits. Not only does this approach work at getting users hooked on the games, but it also harkens to the nostalgia associated with when these games were first played.
Each game is given its own retro arcade cabinet. You use your virtual credits to play a new game whenever you get a game over. You can purchase 10 more credits for $0.99, or have unlimited gameplay for $3. There’s a ton of extra bundles to buy, as well as a cheats packages that unlocks upgrades and special abilities.
You can play the games in an optimized ‘iPhone mode,” or “Classic mode” for purists. Gameplay is pretty nice, that is, if you can work well with a virtual joystick. I sometimes have trouble doing complicated moves with so little space for my finger to move.
Capcom has said that new games will be added to the arcade every month. This app is quite the steal for some leisurely, retro gaming. If you plan on being an addict, prepare to fork over some bones. But for most of us, three games a day is plenty to entertain and warrant the free download.
Capcom Arcade does not currently support Apple’s Game Center, but that will hopefully be fixed in an update. At a whopping 166 MB, I would recommend downloading the app on your desktop and then syncing it to your iPhone.
Pick up Capcom Arcade for free in the App Store.

:- Warning: Glitch in Your iPhone Alarm Clock Will Cause You to Wake Up Late
Apple is well aware of it, and to be honest with you, I expected them to release iOS 4.2 in time to fix this bug, but this apparently wasn’t a priority for them. They did however provide a few steps to make sure your iPhone will wake you up on time if you have an alarm clock set…
As we previously noted:
The bug appears when using a repeating alarm for anything other than “every day.” So for example, your alarm will go off an hour late if it’s set for “weekdays,” or “weekends,” or every “Monday.” The following alarms are not affected by the bug:In short, you should delete all your alarms, and make sure to set alarms for specific days. Or simply use an old school, real alarm clock!
- An alarm that doesn’t repeat (repeat set to “never”)
- An alarm set to repeat “every day”
Strange bug, but again, even stranger is the fact that Apple didn’t fix it on time.

Your Phone Can Say a Lot About You
I think this cartoon is pretty spot on. You know how we, iPhone users, look down on Blackberry and Android users. Android is for geeks and Blackberry is for businessmen.
Oh yeah, we’ve got all the reasons in the world to think that, but it’s pretty funny to see how they, Android and Blackberry people, look at us…

This amazing technology has been duplicated with other famous search services like App Store Instant. We’ve all been waiting in eager expectation for Google to bring instant searching to iOS, and Google Instant has now been made available on all iOS 4.0+ devices…
Reports have been that some areas in the U.S. do not have Google Instant yet. The service should start rolling out internationally in the coming weeks. I personally got the option for Instant search almost right away.
It appears that the Instant option is only available on the mobile Google website. The official Google Mobile app will most likely be updated with Instant support soon.
I also noticed that Google felt the need to clarity that Instant was in “beta.” O Google, when will you realize that your whole company is basically in beta.
Read the Google Blog post about Instant on mobile,
“With Google Instant on mobile, we’re pushing the limits of mobile browsers and wireless networks. You will probably notice a big improvement in speed when you search thanks to a new AJAX and HTML5 implementation for mobile that dynamically updates the page with new results and eliminates the need to load a new page for each query… Google Instant for mobile works best on 3G and WiFi networks, but since the quality of any wireless connection can fluctuate, we’ve made it easy to enable or disable Google Instant without ever leaving the page. Just tap the “Turn on” or “Turn off” link.”Let us know if you have Google Instant enabled on your iOS device. How does it work for you?

:-The Apple Iphone 4 Inside Philippines Leads To Controversy
The Apple Iphone 4 Inside Philippines Leads To Controversy
And to prove that people still chose quality and pay the right price rather than buying a pirated version and expect a mediocre product, the iPhone was an instant hit in China. Despite the millions of imitation phones in the mother land of pirated products, Chinese consumers we lined up in Apple stores and distributors for the official launching of the most celebrated smartphone of this year, which is the iPhone 4.
After it was launched in China, Apple were already finalizing the contract of an exclusive mobile phone provider in the Philippines to launch the new iPhone. Globe telecom, a local mobile network provider in the Philippines has announced that they will be bringing the iPhone 4 in the country and offer it in mobile phone plan.
But the lack of decent iPhone insurance was a big problem that enraged Apple iPhone 4 owners in the Philippines. This indicates the Philippine market place was prepared to welcome the brand new iPhone but with no good insurance carrier around, consumers was basically counting only on warranty which is often very restricted.
As opposed to in the UK where consumers simply go surfing and search for iPhone insurance and the choose the provider with the best cover and price and within a matter of seconds, their completely new iPhone 4 is covered. Comprehensive insurance for iPhone is a fundamental prerequisite in Britain for consumers and to prevent any further controversy, Apple must contract a reliable insurance carrier for their products whatever region it maybe.

:- Guide To Buy A Cheap IPhone
Guide To Buy A Cheap IPhone
Technology switches in the speed of lightning. First, Steve Jobs and the guys at Apple developed the iPod, and the music lovers in us had anawaking like never before. No sooner than we are able to listen to all 1,000 songs loaded on our iPod, here follows the iPhone, combining the iPod and the functionality of the phone. As we are just relishing the 3G iPhone at 16G, the strong 32G blows our mind away. But lo and behold, the real killer is now discharged. Make way for the iPhone 4G!
That is the path to go with technology, we all take that by now. There is always an upward spiraling movement to getting more innovative, more sophisticated, and more sleek, and more functional.
But with the revolutionary gadget arrives a hefty price tag. Sure, the new iPhone 4G touts a lot of features that make its forerunners envy its coolness and pure awesomeness. FaceTime feature allows video calling like never before. You can really see your family and friends while you talk to them on the phone. The new iPhone 4G also has the 960x460 resolution in a 3.5-inch screen, it has the sharpest resolution screen ever on a phone. It also provides for multitasking in a more seamless way, and it can let you shoot, edit, and watch videos, all on HD.
Some who don't have the budget for a 4G bemoan its coming. But there are those who find the silverlining in the horizon. With this technology transfer is also a abrupt drop on the 3Gs. You can now have a cheap iPhone 3G from online stores and other sources. The superior features and functionality are still there. This is a great move. Specially because the more practical customers recognise that before long, something new will come along and the 4G will also be one cheap iPhone which the majority of the people can purchase.
WalMart was terrific indeed when it sold a plenty of cheap iPhone 3Gs in June, just ahead the much-anticipated release of the 4G in July. Shoppers had the time of their lives.
No sour graping here, just pure practicality. There is indeed fundamental cleverness in purchasing a cheap iPhone by anticipating the purchase for a later time. As long as the features and functionality stay, we can acquire the best value for our money. After all, we can most certainly predict that what is new now will be old in the next months, or even just before we had the time to really enjoy and explore it.

:- Online Shopping For IPhones On Special Promos
Online Shopping For IPhones On Special Promos
What an absolutely terrific job Steve Jobs and his adept team at Apple did with the recently introduced iPhone 4G, relegating to a dazzling past the iPhone 3G individuals have got to know. This turn of event can induce quite a rippling effect.
People seem to be constantly exploited by fad in technology, that is, if they permit themselves to be. A technology change like this, which occurs every time a fresh killer app is issued to the market, can work to the advantage of the more conventional customers, which is a majority especially in terms of new media technologies.
iPhones on special are now the delirium over online shopping internet sites what with iPhone 3G prices taking a stunning low. This is the side effect of gaud, and for the practical person, acquiring the same unit loaded with the fantastic features-- over 1,000 songs, full-length HD movies, internet connectivity via wi-fi, and call and talk on mobile phone-- for a cheap price is just cloud nine.
4G lovers who have the money to burn are having the real deal. The sleek and lean 4G boasts of features never before feasible in any other phone, like FaceTime video calling, the fullest and hottest screen resolution ever on a phone, full HD video recording, editing, previewing, and sharing, and high-speed internet connectivity via wi-fi.
iPhones on special will ever be there, in much the same way new iPhone interpretations are produced. It's just a cycle of technology, and of consumer behavior. Those who purchase for knickknack will soon have to cough up the dollars once more for something fresh to come their way. Those who are conservative about where they put their money can either buy again, or stick with the one they already have, never mind if it's not current as long as it does the task.
Technology will always be a few steps before us. We will forever see a fresh drive to have what is the modern, if we have the money. But most of technologies which depart from the fad extend the same functionality, only with lesser features.
Cheap iPhone 3Gs are sold as iPhones on special by numerous online gadget shops. Snatch one now to get the most value for your money.

App Review: Slice it!
I can’t remember the last time I saw an app with ratings this high and would love some recommendations of other games with these kinds of ratings!
Anyways, Slice it! is a puzzle game that puts your Geometry skills to the test. I must admit, in High school I hated Geometry and barely did enough to get by, but don’t worry! You won’t be doing any Pi x Radius calculations but you will find yourself planning ahead and visualizing your strategy to achieve the most amount of stars possible…
The goal of the game is to slice different shapes into the required number of pieces noted at the top of the screen. Each shape needs to be as equal in size as possible. However, if there are huge differences between your resulting shapes, then you find yourself back at square one and repeating the level.
After successfully cutting the pieces, you are rewarded between 1-5 stars depending on accuracy of your cut pieces. If you are able to achieve 5 stars you are given a hint. These hints are given as points and can be saved for later on in the game when you are stuck.
The graphics and music go perfectly with this game. Game play is extremely easy to learn as all you’re doing is using your finger to cut slices. When cutting, a dotted line represents your cut and with the paper background it helps with precision. However, if you’re not happy with what you cut you can always redo it with the undo button.
There are 60 levels, which was more than enough for me. As you progress in the game, you are presented with tricky and strange shapes and also areas where you will not be able to cut. Unless you’re a genius, these later levels will really make you frustrated and will require you to re-do it many times in order to figure out how to pass the level.
After I used all of my hints and failed multiple times, I just gave up. For those who love puzzle games this will definitely rack your brain and provide you with hours of fun. For those of you who aren’t die-hard puzzle fans than I suggest staying away.
You can buy this game for $.99 in the App Store today. Why not give it a try and tell us what you think!

DirectControl Gives You Quick and Dirty Access to Your iPod Controls
Well, DirectControl is a lot like SwitcherPlus, that is, if SwitcherPlus went on a crash diet and lost like 100 pounds. In other words, it takes one feature that SwitcherPlus does well, and offers it to you in a single tweak. Does that make DirectControl any more or less compelling?
I suppose if all you care about is accessing your iPod controls, then you could make an argument for DirectControl. But SwitcherPlus is a full fledged app that offers end users a much more comprehensive feature set, and all of said features are useful. Plus, just like the tweak in question, it also includes options to open directly to iPod controls.
It’s just hard for me to recommend DirectControl when SwitcherPlus does iPod controls along with a flashlight, favorites, and options for lock screen behavior. It’s not too bloated, and it’s not too minimal, it’s just the right size for an app of its type. For this reason, I recommend SwitcherPlus over DirectControl.
Both apps are available on the Cydia store for jailbroken iPhones running iOS 4+. Which one do you recommend?

CoBrowser Allows You to Share a Webpage From Your iPhone to Another iDevice
CoBrowser allows your iPhone to download an entire webpage images and all to your iPhone and then share it via Bluetooth to any other iDevice such as an iPod Touch or iPad. The nice thing is the other devices don’t even need to have an internet connection because they pull it from your iPhone directly.
CoBrowser can be especially handy at meetings when you need to share a webpage with multiple iDevices for viewing or collaborating on ideas or data. CoBrowser is the closest thing to iDevice tethering to come through the App Store without actually violating the no tethering rules. Best of all CoBrowser is a universal app so it runs on all iDevices so you only need to buy it once.
I am sure as time goes on people will find more and more uses for CoBrowser and it is an extremely nicely developed app. CoBrowser is currently selling for the reduced price of $1.99 in the App Store so you may want to grab it before the price goes up.

Repurpose an Unused iDevice as a Media Server
The iPod Remote Controller app is a two-trick app for jailbroken devices. It will access and control any iDevice that is running the iPod Remote Server. You can select songs, shuffle, and play the songs in an interface that closely resembles the iPod app for the iPhone. It will also allow you to connect via WiFi or Bluetooth for those who don’t have a WiFi connection…
The iPod Remote Server is a free system-level app that installs as a preference pane. You can toggle it on or off and set a password.
The most striking feature of this app is the ability to act as a Veency VNC client for an iPhone that’s running the Veency server. For this alone, the $1 price is worth it to me! So if you’re using DisplayOut or TVOut2-Mirror you can connect the iDevice media server to your TV or home theater and control everything from your iPhone.
The only limitation I’ve found is all (or most?) album art does not show over Bluetooth, but I have not tested it over WiFi yet.
The two apps are available in Cydia. iPod Remote Controller is $1, iPod Remote Server is free.
How will you use this (with other apps too) to perfect your iPhone home theater experience? Does this make it worth it to own an iPod touch and an iPhone?

Facebook iPhone App Updated, Brings Groups and Deals
Facebook held a special mobile event yesterday at their headquarters in Palo Alto, California. CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, addressed the company’s new mobile strategy. Among some updates to the Android app, the official iPhone app was given the most attention.
Facebook v3.3 adds a couple of interesting features. The look of the app has been slightly restructured in the News Feed to consolidate space. Beyond the small updates to the user interface, Facebook added two major features: Groups and Deals…
Facebook Groups can now be accessed from an icon in the app’s home screen like all of the other popular features of the site. TechCrunch described Facebook Groups best, “Facebook Groups is sort of like Google Wave for human beings.” You can share posts with members of the group on the updated iPhone app, but you do not have administrative functions for managing a group.
I like Facebook Groups, it accomplishes its goal well and it makes exclusive, collaborative communicating easy. But let’s be honest, adding Groups to an iPhone app is not really newsworthy by itself. Facebook also added something that I think has the potential to change the face of mobile marketing- Deals.
Deals is basically Facebook’s version of Foursquare’s “Specials.” Deals allows merchants of all kinds to offer special deals and coupons to customers who check-in with Facebook Places. Like the initial launch of Places, Deals will be slowly rolled out in the U.S. first.
Although Zuckerberg didn’t really elaborate on how the monetization of Deals would work, I’m sure this new feature will be a cash cow for the king of social media. Deals can basically be translated to location-based advertising on steroids. However, the advertising looks to not be that intrusive for the end-user. Facebook users will simply see locations with a deal to offer highlighted in yellow. When you click on the location, you see a simple, text-only coupon to present to the cashier.
Facebook announced at their mobile event that Places has already become the most used location check-in service. With the 200 million users that are using Facebook on their mobile devices, the clout that Facebook carries in its brand will definitely carry over to the location-based advertising market. In Facebook’s official blog post on Deals, the social titan lists some major companies that have already committed to advertising deals in the upcoming weeks. The list is pretty impressive. I know I will be using several of those coupons when they are made available.
Needless to say, I think that Deals will be… a big deal. Pardon the pun.
What do you think about Facebook Deals? Is Facebook destroying the futures of similar companies like Foursquare or Gowalla? Will you be using Facebook Places to find deals in your area?

iSwingSpeed 1.0 for iOS – Calculates Speed of Golf Swing in MPH or KPH
Marvel Apps today is pleased to introduce iSwingSpeed 1.0 for iOS, their new sports app that calculates the speed of the user’s golf swing in either miles per hour or kilometers per hour. To operate, the user places their iPhone flat on the ground, approximately 27 inches behind the ball in the swing path of the club (the iPhone is 4.5 inches long, so six phone lengths works perfectly). Employing the iPhone’s built-in mic, the app measures the speed of the swing to an accuracy of plus or minus 4 MPH at speeds up to 140 MPH. The user need not pre-set the app; speed is displayed automatically following every swing. The scientific literature on the physics of golf balls, golf swings, and golf clubs is surprisingly rich, and dozens of physical factors and variables may come in to play. Interestingly, the golf ball once hit, travels faster than the maximum speed of the club due to elasticity effects. “We at Marvel Apps, exhaustively tested the algorithm for 6 months with various clubs, balls, placements of the iPhone, and radar guns. An accuracy of +/-4MPH was achieved for our swings at the GolfSmith driving dome, comparing iSwingSpeed readings to GolfSmith readings. Above 140MPH we observed +/-6MPH. We are working feverishly to improve the accuracy.” |
